Ideal Horizontal Windlass With Chain Wildcat

SOLD

12v motor was rebuilt a few years back and not used

Windlass was rebuilt in early 2007 with new bearings, paint, gaskets and stainless fasteners.

Will take 3/8 BBB chain.  A BBB link is shorter which provides for more flexibility.

The tag is included but not mounted, the voltage information on the tag needs to be changed.

There is a provision to operate it manually as well with a steel flat bar, (the cathead will ratchet).

Unit has a hawse pipe under the head and under the chain whelp for below deck storage of rope and chain.

A new switch needs to be installed, or you can opt for a remote location, as in the pilot house, a foot switch in the deck or higher up on a bulkhead.

I think the brake band may need a thin glue on lining as there is none now.  It works like that but the ends are almost touching each other.  Doesn't appear to be any wear on the brake components (or anything else).

This unit is cosmetically not new or perfect.  It has a few small nicks in the bronze parts and the paint is not "bristol yacht" but it looks very nice.

The width of the base (left to right in first picture) is 20.5".  The cathead sticks out 2.5" (to the right in the picture) and the chain whelp clutch wheel sticks out 2" (to  the left in the picture).  The over-all width with the chain whelp wheel and the cathead is 25.5".

The base of the unit is 24.5" from fore to aft.  It tapers down so that the rear of the base is only 12" wide.  The sides go back 10" straight and then have a tapered side which are 15" in length (see last picture) The corners are rounded (radius cut).

The unit is 15" tall to the top of the bronze cleat.

I would estimate 400 pounds.
